About the Writer:
Bruce H. Gilkin
Born and raised in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania,
Bruce worked hard to be the first in his family to attend college.
Before he was able to complete his degree, he served in the US Army as a
Sergeant E-5 assigned to a Special Forces unit in the Americal Division. Bruce
was in Chu Lai,Vietnam running recon when
still 19 years old.
Upon returning home, he put his skills to use by collecting loans.
When the children started coming, he changed course and began his own construction
business. He served his community by coaching his childrens baseball
leagues for 10 years. Then, he organized and served as President of his
local Civic Association and worked with his State Senator and Mayor on
many community projects. He was Court Appointed then elected to the possition
of Judge of Elections in his Pennsylvania District.
After his world closed in, and almost all of his freedoms vanished, Bruce was
introduced to a magazine editor. This editor wanted to do a story on
PTSD. Around this same time a "Park Avenue Editor" contacted
Bruce for permission to use his name and identity in a book by another
author. At this time, he did not consider himself one...
After a couple of conversations with this woman, Bruce was told, "close the
business. You are going to write your story, and I'm going to get it out
there."
An author was born. The natural story teller had a new audience.
